Creating Compassionate Community Camp
A Personal Reflection
On the final evening we gathered around the campfire roasting veggies and hot dogs, singing songs and sharing warmth after a day spent deepening our connection to one another through NVC. I feel deep gratitude to the organizers of the first annual CCC camp for giving me and the other giraffes the opportunity to bask in the support, care, and connection offered by compassionate community.
Participants travelled from as far away as Nelson to enjoy the beauty of Ruckle Park and the inspiration offered by trainer Ingrid Bauer. While several of the days were rather wet, Beaver Point Hall was warm and cozy with plenty of space for children and adults to play, learn and share delicious food.
Every time I have the opportunity to immerse myself in a community of people committed to living from a place of compassion, I feel alive, rejuvenated and connected to the hope I have to live in a more caring world.
Happily, the organizers are already starting to plan next year’s CCC camp so I hope you will consider joining us to experience the power of compassion and empathy to nurture and inspire!
