Katrina Morrison Kaneda (Vernon)
Katrina Kaneda has been practicing and sharing Compassionate or Nonviolent Communication (NVC) with others for four years. She says of NVC, “With my background as a parent and working in schools as a certified teacher I saw this as the ‘missing piece’ in my own training and experience. I am grateful for the contribution of NVC in helping me to create the quality of relationships I want in my life.” Katrina facilitates Compassionate Communication workshops in the Okanagan region, and particularly enjoys sharing NVC with people who have children in their lives.
Mary Ellen McNaughton (Kelowna)
As a person centered counselor, Mary Ellen has been incorporating the frame of NVC into her practice since her introduction to it in 1999. As an adjunct professor at UBCO she recently taught it in the context of Relational Practice to nursing students. It is also a helpful frame to align with the attachment theory and Sue Johnson’s model of Emotionally Focused Therapy, which is now a large part of her practice.
Now as a trainer and facilitator in the Okanagan, she truly enjoys creating space for teaching and learning NVC in a monthly practice group that she runs in Kelowna as well as contributing to the BCNCC Board. In the context of family as well as work and play, the tools and consciousness of NVC continues to inform her thinking and be the place she turn to for self-connection and support

Carol Keane (Gabriola Isl.)
Carol Keane is a passionate woman who loves people. She coaches, counsels and facilitates Nonviolent Communication workshops.
How to live my intention and be the change I want to see in the world led me to study NVC. I would like the opportunity to share this with you.
Denny Warner (Sidney)
As a parent of two young children, I felt inspired and more hopeful of achieving peace in the world, and at the very least in my home, when I was first introduced to NVC approximately 4 years ago. I have continued my own learning while looking for opportunities to find new homes for NVC in my community. I first joined the board of BCNCC as Treasurer 2 years ago and continue to serve in that capacity. It is a comfortable meeting place for me to be using my administrative and financial background to further the goals of BCNCC and the larger NVC community.
